1. All
games will be played under Hockey Canada
and Hockey NS rules except that there
will be no
protests.
2.
Teams should be at the rink one
hour before scheduled game times.
3.
Round robin games will be
played concurrently at the rinks noted on the schedule. Please
check the location with tournament
officials so that the schedule can be met.
4.
All games will be three
stop-time periods of 15 minutes each, with ice resurfacing every two
periods. A five minute warm-up is
allowed before each game.
5.
If, at any time in the 3rd
period of any round robin game, a goal differential of five or more exists, the
balance of the game will be played at straight time.
6.
Minor Penalties will be two
minutes except during straight time when they will be three minutes.
7.
Ties will not be broken during
round robin play.
8.
Tournament Five Point System in
effect for the round robin games (see full explanation on next page).
9.
In the event of a team unable
to play a scheduled game, the other team will be awarded five points and a
winning score of 1 to 0.
10.
Ties at the conclusion of round
robin play will be broken as follows: (a) records between tied teams; (b) goals
for minus goals against; (c) goals for divided by goals against; (d) goals
scored; (e) least penalty minutes; (f) 5 player shoot out. NOTE
: If more than two teams are tied the
highest ranked team will be determined first then the tie breaking formula will
start over to break any remaining ties.
11.
The top two teams in each five
team division and top three teams in a seven team division will advance to the
quarter final round. In addition one wildcard team will advance that team will
be the team with the most points that has not already advanced.
12.
Quarter final match-ups will be
determined as follows: (a) three divisional winners will be ranked on points
accumulated in round robin play for seeding positions one to three,(b) the three
second place teams in each division will be ranked on points accumulated in
round robin play for seeding positions four to six, (c) the third place team in
the seven team division and the wildcard team will be ranked on points
accumulated in round robin play for seeding positions seven and eight:

13.Four
winners of the quarter finals will advance to semi-finals
and will be ranked one to four based on points accumulated in round robin
play. Semi final match-ups will be:

Winners of two semi
finals will advance to championship game.
14.Ties in points in seeding
process noted in #12 and #13 will be broken based on Tournament Tie Breaking
Formula (see #10).
15.
If a quarter final or semi final game is tied at the end of
regulation time, there will be a two minute break followed by a 15 minute stop
time, sudden victory overtime period. If
the game remains tied after 15 minutes, each team will remove two skaters and
play will resume immediately with a minimum of three skaters per team.
Play will continue with no break until the
tie is broken. At this point penalties
will be two minutes and will be served in the following manner: (i) the
penalized player will serve the penalty; (ii) the penalized team will have
three skaters and the other team will be allowed one additional skater, to a
maximum of five. At the first stoppage
in play after the penalty has been served, both teams will return to playing
with three skaters.
16.
If the Championship game is tied at the end of regulation time,
there will be a two minute break and the game will continue into sudden victory
periods of 15 minutes, stop time.
17.Suspensions
during the tournament will be based on the NSMHC guidelines. These
guidelines will be applied to all teams
from all branches.
18.Players
who are under suspension from the CAHA for a gross
misconduct, game misconduct, or match penalty are ineligible to participant in
tournament games unless their suspension is terminated during tournament play.
19.Teams
must prepare to begin a game up to 15 minutes prior to the
scheduled start.
20.REGISTRATION: teams are required to sign in prior to their first
game at the Halifax
Forum/Civic Arena complex where the main tournament office will be. Coaches will receive an information packet at
check-in. A travel permit is required by all teams who are playing outside
their province and must be presented to tournament officials prior to playing
the first game.
21.CREDENTIALS: player cards are
required for each player. You will
produce these only upon request.
